  1. the analysis of the test results sound like more bullshit than the test results themselves. until i see *official* bogomip results, i’ll remain unbiased.

  2. and now there’s an article on slashdot w/ a vp from apple defending the results.

i don’t tend to believe random people with no credentials whatsoever making claims.

anyway – i’m surprised that sir didn’t write in all caps.

  3. The Power Mac G5 is the world?s fastest personal computer and the first with a 64-bit processor ? which means it breaks the 4 gigabyte barrier and can use up to 8 gigabytes of main memory. The new G5 processor ? available at speeds up to dual 2GHz with a new ultrahigh-bandwidth system architecture featuring AGP 8X and PCI-X ? makes the Power Mac G5 a breakthrough in desktop processing power. And models start at just $1999.

FINALLY i’ve been desperate for a personal computer that will take more than 4 gigs of main memory… finally i can type that big document i’ve been holding out on.

PCI-X ROCKS!!! looking forward to that in the PC realm.

  5. it’s worth noting that the 970 chip was developed by ibm and will be the next generation chip in their mid and high range servers. (or so i’ve read)

it’s also worth noting that their existing rs6000 and lower lines are also all powerpc processors.
