happy few days past thanksgiving

well the holiday season is officially underway. woo! thanksgiving was tastey. i’m enjoying the extended weekend much more than the food, however.

nichole is on vacation with her family for a week, and i am missing her already. i’m the lucky one who gets to maintain the zoo of animals they have — one rabbit, one bird, one lizard, one cat. the two dogs are vacationing as well, making the job quite a bit easier.

2-word review of timeline: worth it!

nivex is back in these northern parts from his geek employment for the holiday. visiting him and kev/sarah in cleveland at some point tomorrow.

i finally broke down and bought quicksilver by neal stephenson – the author of the last two books i’ve read. it’s definitely not his usual style of writing necessarily, but it does tie in with cryptonomicon quite a bit, even down to character names… for example, the lead guy is enoch root. so far it takes place in the late 1600’s to early 1700’s. historical fiction doesn’t usually interest me much, but past works by this author sparked my interest.

back to the thanksgiving thing – apparently i am hosting my family’s christmas eve. well, my mom’s side of the family that is. my mom is being weird and refusing to put up a christmas tree this year (her excuse – she doesn’t want to have to move her exercise bike). and my grandma isn’t in the best of health with her back problems. my aunt is hosting the actual christmas thing, so that leaves me. for those that have seen my living establishment, you will understand just what an undertaking it will be to make this place presentable.

i am rather looking forward to it though.

(better hide the porn.)
