it’s alive!!!

i’ve been vewy, vewy qwiet the past few weeks. my mattopian audience has had to suffer through the personal side of me. some of you dig that, and i’m sure others don’t. anyway, i thought i’d play catch up here and write about some of the random stuff that fell through the cracks…

fucking car
i had my new car all of… 6 weeks or so… before fucking it up. driving up route 8 on a return trip from canton i run over something. .. i never saw anything, but the scratch patterns appeared to be from tire tread. $500 deductible, another $100 for some other bullshit, and now my car looks like its brand new.

wait… it is brand new.

everyone needs a private island
i had the privilege of partying on a private island a few weekends ago. just to the north of the canadian border lies north harbour island. i proxied in via the family of a friend. the island is a bit smaller i’d say than a football field and has a small house, a shed, a generator, an outhouse (yes, an outhouse), and a small marina. unfortunately i didn’t take my camera.

lightning, damn you
coastal wave once again lost a phone system to mother nature. while its a shame, it did give us the opportunity to finally step up to something a bit more flexible. we’re now using asterisk, an open source pbx program, and polycom ip phones. it’s working beautifully and does everything a much more expensive system would do. best of all, i can now answer coastal calls from the comfort of my home… in my pj’s… as i did this morning… telecommuting up in this mofo.

body worlds
i’m going to see this on saturday….. those who know how weak my stomach is might feel my concern.

  1. Hooray for asterisk and polycom phones! If ABLE hadn’t already invest a shitton of money in crap NEC, I would totally have hopped on the asterisk bandwagon… and polycom makes the best stuff (they’re videoconferencing stuff is incredible). Asterisk has, by far, the best user interface I’ve seen, beeting out the avaya definity, NEC’s crap, and the cisco call manager.

Body Worlds is *incredible* but you’ll definitely see a lot of menards, more than you’ll ever see in your entire life. Try not to walk out with any fetuses or anything 😉
