new digs faq

i’ve been getting two questions quite a bit lately. given my relative busy-ness, my answers have been somewhat terse. as such, here is my faq on the new situation…

q: how’s the new apartment?

super! thanks for asking!

seriously, it is a pretty fucking great establishment. it’s very quiet, and it’s coming together very nicely. even though it’s only a one-room pad, there is actually plenty of space to contain dana, myself, and a decent majority of our relative posessions. well, at least my posessions, which would fit in our new bathroom if necessary.

oddly enough, we received a noise complaint for december 2nd in the evening. something about loud bass and music. not only was there nobody here on the night in dispute, there was also nothing in the apartment capable of generating any loud music. we disputed of course, and it was removed from our file.

wtf?!

q: how’s the new job?

to be determined. it can go either way. i’ve been going through the ‘advanced training’ worksheet the last few days, which basically involves taking a computer, loading up rhel, and making it do most standard server-like stuff… http, nfs, smtp (both sendmail and postfix), network monitoring with nagios, etc. mostly stuff i could do while napping. there are a few that are tripping me up though/ ipsec with openswan is proving to be a bit tricky, and building a custom rpm was a pain. i’ve taken two support issues so far. one went very well, the other i can’t figure out.

i’m also surprised at how many “big” customers we have. there are several that i’m sure you’ve all heard of.

and that’s about all i have to say about that.

  1. i was happy to be proven right, since most of my clothing fit into the closets. 🙂 somebody doubted my ability to make my wardrobe fit in there. boys. they have such little faith.

and on a related note, no girl anywhere will ever give up her mirror, so it’s a losing argument from the start. 🙂 the full length variety should be going up this weekend.
