postmaster@aol

so i’m on hold in the aol postmaster queue. it’s actually on a customer’s clock, so i’ll take the opportunity to write a blog update…

tampa – we’ll be there in a few weeks. we’re going to celebrate dana’s birthday and matt’s belated birthday. speaking from significant experience, there’s nothing like getting into warmer climates for a few days during the depths of winter.

molly – she’s expecting #2, it’s a girl, and she’s getting all hitched up in less than a month. a huge round of cheers and congrats!

matt – he’s quiet, i know. it’s half from busy-ness and half from having not a whole helluva lot to say. it’s been work, domestic stuff, tv, sleep, times five, and then a weekend of varying eventfulness.

this weekend was particularly eventful (and pricey, as it turns out). shanon came up after work on friday. we drank. i was on call, and actually received a msg from a client who, well, we’re not really providing assistance to for various reasons. i was able to ignore it. had it been a call i needed to answer, i wonder how buzzed i might have sounded. 🙂 saturday, we bowled. watched movies. drove around for an hour trying to find an estate sale and discovered that no one was home. sunday, some local friends of dana’s (and now mine, really) came over to hang out. we went home depoting, where i received another work-related call (even though i was not on-call — a story for later). shopping, eating, and some halo’ing followed.

on a side note, i used to have a nintendo 64 in the college days. hours upon hours were spent, every week, playing four player mario cart and james bond. i wish i had the plasma back then — a 4-way split screen on a 21″ TV was a bit small.

i want to do something really great with my site here. i wish i had more to entertain the world, but my life does tend to go through the dull times.

is anyone paying any attention to the flickr photostream from my (and dana’s) phone?

  1. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

/me stabs mattopia in the eye

I am so fucking sick and goddamn tired of AOL postmaster!!!!!!!! KILLLLL DIE DIE DIE DIEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

  2. i miss those mario kart competitions in your dorm room. though if you get a nintendo ds, we can play each other over wifi 🙂

  3. Yay! Matt posted again!

Did you get the invite? Are you two planning on coming? (I’d call but I don’t have your number.)

Molly, I think we’re sorta date twins. And please shoot me now because I just used that evil phrase. *runs off*

  4. I’m getting married on the 11th, so no. Unless they’re planning their Tampa trip either of those weekends. 🙂 And hey, I’d put duct tape on my registry if they’d let me. I still need some!

I’ve been hanging out at The Knot too much, hence the use of “date twins.” *shudder*

  5. don’t forget the wal-mart brand q-tips!

lol, the knot– i went there one night to get some information on name change and the 411 (i’m going thru heck at the thought of leaving my name beind…), anyway, i found myself getting way too caught up looking at things, and then panicking over stuff i hadn’t thought of. i had to walk away! although i’ll share this about name changes… on the side of the page, there was a list of “alternative” name change options for those who don’t want to become mr. and mrs. hisname, and this one is the best ever…

New names for everyone: This is either a combo or something new altogether — the pinnacle of fairness and compromise. Laura Anne Walker and Christopher Allen Smith become Laura and Christopher Smalker. If there’s no good combination of your names, you could go for something that either has symbolic meaning or something that just sounds good (Chris and Laura Parker).

maybe we’ll go with Whitted. but our bank statements will say Waited.

  6. I hear you about the name change. Took me a long time and a lot of thinking it over before I decided to take Chip’s last name. There for a while he was thinking about taking mine. Heh.

The list of people you have to contact after you change your name is *staggering*, and makes me want to rethink the whole darn thing!

  7. welcome to the wedding forums!! 🙂

anyway, kristin – i thought we had declined already. unfortunately that’s when we’ll be in orlando (whytf did i say tampa?!). we had set the date just a few weeks before receiving the invite. i wish we could attend.

when molly told me -her- date, i thought that it was also the weekend we were going to be gone, but i was wrong. at least we’ll be able to attend one!

  8. who’s the last mopho? it looks like charles hoffer, kid who sat behind me in business class freshman year. he worked at burger king, and halfway through the year was best man at his friend’s wedding. he was in his bk uniform for his drivers license picture… ummm… yeah. i don’t remember much else about him.

  9. No worries, you two. I just wanted to make sure because I didn’t have any other way of contacting you, and I know that emails have a habit of getting lost. At least from my outgoing server, anyway. Have fun in Tampa!

  10. the guy in the photo is my girlfriend’s boyfriend Ed Pantaleono. He’s been in Richfield for quite a while now, though he did attend Kent briefly in 2000-01. he put on my leather coat and a ball cap, which just begged for matt to take a picture.

no problem kristin. just send me your address in an e-mail, and i’ll send you our new one, too. we’ll have to go do dinner sometime after the honeymoon. 🙂
