nobody’s home…

does anybody remember those pre-made answering machine greeting tapes they used to advertise on tv?

for some reason, i have the “nobody’s home……. nobody’s home…..” one stuck in my head.

someone has to remember the one i am talking about? it was set to one of beethoven’s more dramatic pieces.

  1. Yes, I do remember that one. I remember it being stuck in my head as a kid, long before I gained a true appreciation for classical music.

The piece in question is Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. The Wikipedia article on it is quite expansive, but is not pasted here due to case insensitivity.

  2. i get that tune stuck in my head from time to time. it was beethoven’s ninth. that was back in the day when them new fangled “answering machines” used this form of analog “cassette tape” to record your ogm and messages. they had a bunch of cheesy songs on that tape, but i can only remember “nobody’s home.” i remember those commercials and the ones for ray stevens greatest hits, available on lp and even new fangled “cassette tapes,” being on all the time.

oh yes they call him the streak (whistle)…

  3. beethoven’s symphony no. 5 is one of the person-specific ringers i have set… i don’t remember the commercial, but i’ll have to start singing “nobody’s home…” along with it from now on.

  4. *rapping* Wait fo da beep…ya gotta leave ya name, ya gotta leave ya numba…Wait fo da beep…*beep*
