  1. ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN BUD. BUT LETS GET REAL HERE, HEINI IS IMPORTED FROM GERMANY, RIGHT? DO YOU THINK THAT THEY DRINK THAT PISS OVER THERE? HELL NO. IT’S A SUB PAR BEER THAT IS FAR SUPERIOR TO BUD. AND BUD IS JUST MULE SHIT. BUT THAT IS RELATIVE TO ALL THE WONDERFUL MICROBREWS OUT THERE. *WINK WINK*

  2. mmmm… guinness 😛

killian’s is tolerable, as is labatt’s. still a bit unsure of the dortmunder though.

    i’ll stick to lindeman’s framboise lambic 😉

  3. DORTMUNDER IS THE SHIZNIT. AND EDMOUND FITZGERALD AND ELIOT NESS. YEAH, ALL GREAT LAKES BEERS RULE. SAY DUKE, DONT YOU LIVE KINDA CLOSE TO THE BREWERY??

  4. from my experience of actually seeing the factory where the green bottles are filled, heine is a dutch product, that is really good fresh, as the brewery pipes it to bars within a 5 mile radius of the plant (just like guiness does in dublin)…heinie is shipped in large shipping container ships, and it takes at least 7 days to cross atlantic- then customs and distributers, the entire time not in the best climate as the ships and warehouses are not climate controlled… some of the beer is going to skunk, mostly the can in my experience….this is why i only drink it in europe…rolling rock is a much better beer and you can get loads of it for what you pay for a 6 of heine!!!

  5. Guiness is made by Anheuser Busch! Heineken is made Miller! You don’t ship beer, it would require 30 days in quarantine! Foreign beers are produced from their recipes in American breweries.

  6. yeah – the recipe is imported!! it makes sense though – why would a company ship beer between continents, which is really expensive, when there are plenty of places in the us to produce the stuff?

  7. their website says that their us operation is based out of new jersey, but doesn’t give any indication of where it is brewed. i am curious now. we have a local beer distributor as a customer, so i’ll ask… 🙂 (or sir will since he’s down there more than i am)

  8. sir and matt – if you guys come back to cleveland and want to check out great lakes brewery, let duke and me know! we’ve been there before (for a going home party for our dear Polish sysadmin)… and quite a selection!

  9. they do ship beer, guinness isnt guinness unless its made at the guinness brewery…ive talked to the corporate guys in Dublin, guiness is one of the worlds largest companies and…i would like to see this evidence of foreign beers being made in the USA because we have a case of false advertizing then….the same company that imports guinnessa also does bass ale…and they are in stamford ct.

rather than get into it more, save your money, go to holland/ireland and do the tour…because they get you nice and tipsy too!

  10. I was in St. Louis at Anheuser Busch’s world headquarters.. They make Harp and Guiness in the US. Guiness makes Budweiser in the UK. No Two ways about it. Beer is very seldom shipped, especially common foreign beers.

  11. guinness isnt guinness unless its made at the guinness brewery

Asked and answered. Heineken has their own North American brewery. I’ll see if I can find the location of Heineken’s American location.

  12. Heineken is produced in the United States through seperate breweries, some owned by HeinekenNV some not. In the US the company responsible for OPS is Fischer USA which is based in White Plains, NY which is the location of one of their breweries in the US.

  13. well, then why do people pay so much more for it then? you can double your beer budget by drinking something else…say rolling rock or miller…i think many people who buy heini just buy it because its foriegn and then must be much better than anything out of latrobe or columbus or cleveland.

  14. Dale:
A good question. Let’s put it this way, A Ford Escape costs $17,000 a Land Rover Freelander costs $30,000. They are the exact same vehicle. Any questions?

  15. and why buy a lexus when you can buy a toyota camry? and just as much (if not more) of the honda accord is manufactured in the usa as a corvette – yet the honda is still a ‘foreign car’.

  16. of course beer and automobiles are really two completely different things. either way, if a company can save money by producing a product locally instead of shipping it, they will most certainly do so. and they can put ‘brewed in holland’ or whatever they want on the label and not be false advertising, because the product is indeed produced there. but it also happens to be produced in a dozen other places.

  17. if its the blond built bartender he has probably lost his mind from all the dick he gets while in jail LOL (long story) but i have to give kudos to the best 2 dollar 6pack you can get those lil kings LOL when you are really despret for freeking beer. never had imports but hear they are good

  18. actually, once upon a time (until trucks became economical and time-efficent) beer was brewed on regional basis and budwesier, miller, etc. all tasted different…also some beers were only availible in that region (rolling rock comes to mind cheifly on this one)…now it’s all the same beer and the formula has been adjusted to the most populer brew rather than the best…adding to this rice is used for bud because it is cheaper (or why bud sucks more than most beers) personally, here on the border, i like labbatt or labbatt light…(drinking light now…must be getting old)

cheap shanizzle – pabst blue ribbon or busch…won’t touch natty with a 10 foot pull
