movie night mostly successful

movie night was a blast! had about half the people i expected — 7 or 8 overall. a few people who said they’d come skipped out on me. saw a few people that i hadn’t seen in quite awhile — chip, kristin, and kristy!

among the evening’s failures, jason didn’t show up with the projector until about 10:30pm due to car troubles. i knew i should have arranged for a backup. this one was 1,800 lumens, which lit the barn up nicely. the image was huuuuge, taking up a majority of the side of the barn. way larger than the screen we constructed for it. i’d estimate the screen size to have been about 14’x10′. i’m not sure if anyone took any pictures of the movie playing, and people not there won’t be able to truely realize how big the screen was.

and yes, i did use the singular form of movie. with the projector arriving late and most people having to drive some distance home, we ended up only playing the surprise movie:

fear and loathing in las vegas

i’m sure the comments will tell stories, as will the pictures. i didn’t take any, but shanon and kevin both did, perhaps others?

thanks to jason (who never reads this) for the projector, and to my bad ass girlfriend for buying the alcohol (two cases and a variety of girly drinks). thanks to chip and kristin for the salsa, which i haven’t tried yet. 🙂 thanks to kev and sarah for providing tiki torches. and thanks to everyone who came for making it a lot of fun.

total proof of concept — the movie (and the aqua teen episode beforehand) looked and sounded great. i definitely will be planning another one, either in the spring, or perhaps using the inside of the barn for a winter one…

can’t wait to see the pictures!

heh… menards.

hey sarah, send me the cool ones, okay? pandora9802 and it’s on hotmail. hope the planning goes well for next weekend, and please let me know if y’all need anything.

all in all, a good time for all. 🙂

  2. Sorry for not making it Matt I started running a temp AGAIN about 20 minutes before we left to come out… I was gonna suck it up and just hope that being outside didn’t make it worse… But really started feeling like shit by the time we got to Oregon and one of the kids called on my cell with an issue… we were gonna head back take care of the problem and then make it out there but I was just not up to it…. I am really sorry … we really wanted to come out .. but I can not be sick during the week due to the fact that I am teaching a class at Owens, grading for a class at UT and working full time. Plus coaching volleyball…

  3. i am sooooooooo glad i wasn’t able to make it if fear and loathing was thee movie of the night.

but otherwise, i had been disappointed… i tried to call at around midnight just so i could HEAR it, but mr. new-to-altell apparently doesn’t even have voice mail yet.

  4. classic…. fucking classic. menards. my bawls on ice. we had a pretty good time even before the projector arrived!
