laptops

i love my ibook. it’s light. the battery lasts for-freaking-ever. it’s great.

with the consulting gig, though, i’m finding having a mac along to be more of a inconvenience. also, the 12.1″ screen gets to be a bit tiny sometimes.

so, i’m shopping for an x86 notebook… here are my criteria:

* battery life must be pretty great. i can get a solid 2.5-4 hours on my ibook.

* at least 14″ screen, preferably better than 1024×768 but i’m flexible here.

* something fairly light.

* 1.2ghz or better, preferably pentium-m (see battery issue above)

* something i can find used on ebay for less than $750 or so

suggestions?

  1. Stick with apple. x86 laptops are like domestic beers, they all suck. It’s always everyone saying how much better bud is than miller and how coors light is so much better than bud light, in the end, they are all shitty pilseners that still get you drunk. i would say, for me at least, that sony laptops are like the labatt blue of pilseners, a little more expensive, but worth the money. Apples are like IPA’s or Amber Lagers, they are hard to go wrong with but are an acquired taste.

  2. i never thought id see the day when laptops were compared to beers…..then again i never thought id see two parapalegics having sex on national tv either but then there was family guy
